2010 Game-A-Day Review:
September 11, 2010
Dakota State University at Wisconsin-Whitewater
The Dakota State University Trojans (0-1) visited Whitewater to take on the (1-0) Warhawks on a cloudy, windy 68 degree Saturday afternoon. The Trojans were coming off a 38-7 loss to Midland Lutheran, a team UW-W led 48-0 in the course of a 58-0 victory in 2009. The Trojans were no more of a match than the comparative scores would indicate.
The Warhawks would score TD's on 6 of 8 first half possessions en route to a 42-0 halftime lead. QB Matt Blanchard continued his torrid start to the 2010 campaign as he threw three first half TD passes ( 44 yds to Adam Brandes, 24 yds to Aaron Rusch, and 75 yds to David Leaf). The Warhawks also scored 3 rushing TD's (Levell Coppage 11, 61), Booker Stanley (1 yd).
Meanwhile the Warhawk defense held DSU to 109 yards and 6 first downs in their 9 first half possessions. UW-W used the second half to build depth and give their reserves valuable game experience. The Warhawks threw only one second half pass in cruising to a 70-7 victory. Reserve running backs Booker Stanley and Antwan Anderson lead the team in rushing with 159 and 110 yards respectively. Coppage added 108 rushing yards, all in the first half. The explosive plays of the day included an 84 yard TD run by Booker Stanley and a second quarter 75 yard TD pass from Blanchard to David Leaf.
The Trojans finished the 2010 season 0-10, including 0-8 playing in their final season in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
