2010 Game-A-Day Review
September 18, 2010
Wisconsin-Whitewater at Campbellsville University

The 2-0 Warhawks traveled to Campbellsville, KY to face the Campbellsville University Tigers.  Campbellsville is an NAIA school who plays in the Mid-South Conference. The Tigers entered the contest with a 2-1 record after suffering their first loss of the season, a 33-21 decision to Cumberland University.  On his radio show, Warhawk Coach Lance Leipold said the week of the game, "Having watched film of Campbellsville, they are, by far, the most athletic of the three teams that we play and the biggest lines we will have gone up against so far this season.  Their nemesis so far has been turning the ball over.” The warm weather of the Bluegrass state welcomed UW-W as the temperature at kickoff was 85ยบ.

The Warhawks' offense started fast as they scored touchdowns on drives of 75, 67, and 80 yards on their first three possessions.  The Hawk offensive line were dominant in the drives as Levell Coppage rushed 11 times for 119 yards and 2 TD's in those first three possessions. Matt Blanchard added a 13 yard TD pass to Aaron Rusch on the Warhawks' first possession.  Campbellsville put together an 80 yard scoring drive, capped by a 40 yard TD pass from Robert Hill to Stan Warrenhuffman to cut the Warhawk lead to 21-7 at the half.

After a short punt set up the Warhawks at the CU 43, UW-W scored on a 5 yard Blanchard to Bernie Tamsett TD pass to give UW-W a commanding 28-7 lead.  In the fourth quarter, UW-W increased their lead to 30-7 when Campbellsville QB Robert Hill was penalized for intentional grounding in his own end zone. Antwan Anderson provided the final margin with a one yard touchdown run with 6:27 left in the game.

It was a dominating performance for the Warhawk offensive line and their rushing attack.  Whitewater gained 357 yards rushing on 53 attempts for a 6.7 yard per carry average.  Matt Blanchard finished 14-26 for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Booker Stanley, Levell Coppage, and Antwan Anderson each topped the 100 yard mark for the second consecutive game gaining 116, 114, and 104 yards respectively.

The Warhawk defense again turned in another strong performance, holding the Tigers to 231 yards and 12 first downs.  The UW-W defense held the Tigers without a single first down on 7 of their 13 possessions.

Campbellsville University went on to finish in second place in the Mid-South East Division, with a 5-1 conference record.  The Tigers finished their 2010 season 7-5 overall.
